Blood Drive At Putnam Hospital Fill Critical Need For Holidays

CARMEL, N.Y. --  Blood donations become critically low in December when supplies are down due to holidays, weather, illness and school vacations, according to the American Red Cross.

The public and hospital employees may donate blood at Putnam Hospital Center on Thursday, Dec. 22.

In order to fill the gap, Putnam Hospital Center will run a blood drive Thursday, Dec. 22 for the public and employees of the hospital.

In the New York-Penn blood services region, the Red Cross needs to collect approximately 1,000 units of blood each day to meet the needs of patients.

A commemorative Red Cross long-sleeved T-shirt will be provided to donors while supplies last.

For appointments, call 1-800-733-2767 or visit www.redcrossblood.org and use sponsor code "Putnam Hospital." Walk-ins are also welcome.

The blood drive is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Michael T. Weber Conference Room 2, 670 Stoneleigh Ave., Carmel, N.Y.
