Fifth-graders through high school seniors will be pooled in a free, six-session TouchDevelop app-making program under the acronym T.A.K.T.I.C.S., “To Advance Knowledge Through Incrementing Computer Science." Courses will run from Dec. 8 - Jan. 26.
Instructors on who to be innovative with computers, smartphones and tablets include CPHS senior Shravan Parvathaneni, 17.
“We’re very pleased to have the program," said Danielle Serra, the young adult librarian. "It’s something we’re working on so we will see how it grows.”
Other libraries have included similar programs in their offerings for youngsters and adults.
“With the Robotics Team, we all have a passion for it,” Parvathaneni said. “Schools don’t offer it enough, and for so many (students) this will be their future."
Students must register in advance for the six mandatory courses that run on on select Tuesdays at the library from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
