Woodland Park Plans 'Read Across America' Event And Reading Emphasis

"2016 will be a year of literacy in Woodland Park," Kazmark noted. "In the next month or so we will launch the '1000 Books Before Kindergarten' campaign and will host a reading competition at our summer camp this year."

Part of this emphasis is Woodland Park's annual "Read Across America" celebration. The event is in partnership with the Alfred Baumann Public Library, and Kohl's Department Store is a sponsor. The event will include presentations by the Charles Olbon Elementary School, as well as entertainment by Magician Michael Healy.

"We must as a community instill a love for reading at a young age as it is the fundamental building block of success in all other areas," said Kazmark.

The festivities will begin at 4 p.m. in the council chambers, in the Municipal Building, 5 Brophy Lane, in Woodland Park.
