Rain And Fog To Hit Fairfield This Week

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Periods of rain are expected throughout Fairfield County Monday with cooler temperatures dropping to around 39 degrees midday.

Patchy fog, mainly in the afternoon, will hit the area when winds pick up, gusting as high as 25 mph.

The chance of ran Monday is 100 percent, and accumulation as much as a quarter and half of an inch.

Monday night brings more rain, then changing to a drizzle or light rain early Tuesday morning with areas of fog. The constant temperature overnight will be around 41 degrees.

Tuesday will start off with a chance of drizzle or light rain, then fog up in the afternoon, becoming mostly cloudy with temperatures climbing as high as 52 degrees.

It will be cloudy overnight Tuesday with the air cooling off to around 40 degrees.

Showers are still possible Wednesday, a 20 percent chance, though it will become partly sunny in the afternoon with temperatures hitting around 59 degrees.

More showers are possible Wednesday, mostly in the afternoon, then skies will brighten with partly sunny skies, and temperatures hitting around 59 degrees.

The potential for showers is 30 percent in the overnight hours, with air cooling off to around 41 degrees, under mostly cloudy skies.

Showers return again Thursday, mostly after 10 a.m., then it will become partly sunny, with a high near 57 degrees.

Clouds and cool temperatures are expected Thursday night with temperates dropping to 39 degrees.

March 13 too 19 is Flood Safety Awareness Week. More deaths occur due to flooding than from any other severe weather related hazard, according to the National Weather Service.

People underestimate the force and power of water. More than half of all flood-related deaths result from vehicles being swept downstream. Many of these are preventable.
