Ridgefield's Paula W. Petersen, 72, Was Member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasantville

Paula W. Petersen, 72, of Ridgefield, died on Sunday, Oct. 31. She was the wife of the late John S. Petersen, Jr.

Paula was born in Schenectady, NY on July 9, 1949 — a daughter of the late Henry and Ruth (Whitney) Weltzien. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Yonkers and Pace University in Pleasantville.

A resident of Ridgefield since 2003, Paula previously resided in Ridgefield from 1978 to 1988 and Westchester County from 1988 to 2003. Paula was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Pleasantville, NY. In her spare time, she enjoyed bridge, sewing, crafts and baking.

Paula is survived by her two children; John Petersen and his wife, Lynne, and Heather Berry and her husband, Patrick. Paula is also survived by five grandchildren; Hailey and Ella Petersen and Ruth, Archibald, and June Berry. In addition, Paula is survived by two brothers; Henry Weltzien and Mark Weltzien and his wife, Liz. In addition to her parents and her husband, Paula was predeceased by two brothers, William and Whitney Weltzien.

A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church located at 197 Manville Rd in Pleasantville, NY. Masks or other facial coverings are required for all in attendance. There will be no calling hours and interment will be held privately. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Social Services of New York.
