Draw On! taking place this year from March 24-April 7 celebrates drawing and the multitude of ways it encourages learning, communication and understanding. In New York and Connecticut, many participating sites have devised unique and creative events. At Weir Farm in Wilton, there is plen air sketching; At Ridgefield's Aldrich Museum, visitors view animated films followed by drawing activities for all ages. At New Canaan's Silvermine School of Art, there is a full day of non-stop drawing, with models and without. At Bridgeport's Beardsley Zoo, draw with supplies provided by the Zoo.
In New York, The Katonah Museum of Art's "Learning the Art of Chinese Calligraphy" on April 2 offers participants a new language to draw in. North Salem's Ruth Keeler Memorial Library presents a variety of ways to be creative and leave your artistic mark. At Garrison Art Center, visitors can walk indoors and out, using strips of colorful cloth and string to follow the contour of Garrison's Landing, winding around and up trees, cutting through the gazebo and running along side the river. Indoor activity invites participants to act as props in a 3-dimensional still life, while other participants explore positive and negative space around and between them by "drawing" with string! For a full list of locations, dates and activities planned, visit the Draw On! website.
