North Salem Museum Plans Japanese Tea, Culture Event

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden will host a tea and culture event on Saturday, Oct. 18, from 1-5 p.m.

The benefit will provide an experience to highlight tea culture from the East that changed the scope of culture in the West. 

Participants will have the opportunity to observe a Japanese tea ceremony demonstrated in the main hall and learn about a variety of Asian teas and sample their tastes with the finest tea collections under the sponsorship of  the Harney Tea Co.

Live entertainment from fine musicians combine the ancient Japanese instrument the koto with the classical Western Instrument the cello.

Attendees can participate in a silent auction to benefit the Hammond Museum & Japanese Stroll Garden.

Wine and light hors d’oeuvres will be served.

General admission is $45 and $100 for patrons. Patrons will be invited as special guests to a private tea ceremony and tasting in the authentic Japanese tea room (ryu sui ken) with precious art objects of tea located in the  Hammond Mansion.

This special fundraising event is dedicated to expanding and supporting cultural activities and programs to the local communities, members and the public at large.
