North Salem's Ruth Keeler Library Plans Science Programs For Kids

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- Ruth Keeler Memorial Library will be hosting science programs throughout September and October.

A rundown of events follows:. 

Science Saturdays: Solar Race Cars: Build a solar powered car while learning about the basics of energy. Children will discover the difference between potential and kinetic energy, investigate a solar panel, and finally design and race their very own solar-powered car.    Registration preferred. Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. For kids grades 3-5. 

Mighty Microscope World: Microscopes will be provided as we discover common characteristics of all living things and record observations of cells seen through the microscope. Registration preferred. Saturday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m.                       

Science Book Club: Magic Tree House Science Adventures: Read a book and join in a science activity For Kids in grades 1 and 2. First Tuesday of the month. Tuesdays Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 2 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Books will be provided. It is not necessary to attend all sessions, but please register for those you will be attending.                              STEM Fest: Some of this year's activities will include, rockets, makey makey, soldering, vinyl cutting, 3-D printing and scanning and more. Register for the event by calling, emailing or coming into the library. All science all day for kids K+  Saturday, Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.                             LEGO Challenges: Beginning Friday, Sept. 19 on Friday afternoons. Designed by NSHS students Anna Mattamana and  Amanda Siciliano. New challenge every month. No registration - for kids of all ages
