Pound Ridge Car Enthusiasts Flock To 12th Annual Tom Pisco Car Show

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. -- It was once again a treat to stop in at the Town Park on Sunday to visit the 12th annual Tom Pisco Memorial Officer Car Show. This time I brought my wife and within a few minutes, even she was pointing out a few cars she imagined herself being behind the wheel.

One that caught her attention was a 1950s era Buick Roadmaster Woodie.   This year, the weather turned out to be as perfect looking as the entries. The 1931 Ford I had my eyes on last year was now in the company of several more cars of the same era, including a 1932 Chevy Confederate which stood out with an impressive paint job.

Greeting visitors at the Park entrance was Town Supervisor Dick Lyman, who each year does a great job helping everyone find a space.   The Best In Show trophy went to the owner of the 1994 Cheetah and the newest prize being the Judges Choice, was awarded to the fully restored 1958 Pontiac Chieftain, from the last year of this line produced by Pontiac after World War II. In total, more than 170 awards were presented.   The silent auction was a highlight with several local businesses donating some pretty good looking items.   This year the show raised for the American Legion Post 1080 in Mahopac. No doubt we all appreciate its members for their service and sacrifice to our country.   One group that always has one of the best tuned engines are the volunteers doing the cooking, led by Police Chief Dave Ryan, who most will agree is the fastest burger flipper east of the Hudson River.   Our Annual Car Show would never get off the ground if not for the hard work of its organizers, including the dedication of our PBA, headed by Sgt. Mike Armistead, Billy Fortin (that new guy in town who looks a little like Clapton) and Art Travis, Deputy Building Inspector Extraordinaire.

The show is named after former Pound Ridge Police Office Tom Pisco. The show is sponsored by the Pound Ridge Police Benevolent Association.   If you missed this year's show or have an antique car not yet on display at the Pound Ridge Car Show, be sure to be there next year. Same time, same place.
