The RIO® system uses a surgeon-controlled robotic arm to make smaller incisions that result in faster recovery times for patients. It also can be used for total hip replacements. The hospital used the RIO® system to perform its first MAKOplasty® partial knee procedure to restore mobility in January.

At the event, guests can see how the system is operated. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Joel Buchalter, of the Somers Orthopedics on the Putnam Hospital Center medical staff, will be at the event for part of the day to answer any questions.
