Ruth Keeler Library Celebrates Mother's Day Weekend

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library is celebrating Mother's Day with a weekend full of events.

The library is hosting a Cooks & Books Party at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, and a Library Fair Book, Bake and Plant Sale on Saturday, May 10, and Sunday, May 11. 

The Cooks & Books Party includes an open bar with a selection of fine wines and beer as well as hors d'oeuvres from North Salem chefs and the chance to buy many books before the fair opens to the public. The cost for the event is $50 per person. Residents can RSVP early by emailing Caroline Weisblatt of the fundraising committee at cvillela42@yahoo.com.

Cooks & Books features several local chefs, including Robin Albin, Cynthia Curtis, Rebecca Evans, Hilary Fox-Mills, Bernadette Francis, John Steele Gordon, Eric Grasinger, Shelley Gnall, Steve Kinnear, Richard Koser, Elliott Kraus, Lois Lippmann, John Lombardo, Cindy McKean, Eileen Mendelsohn, Eric Pooley, Russell Smith, Amy Serra and Susie Thompson.

The Cooks & Books Party is a "significant part of an ongoing fundraising campaign to strengthen and support the library," according to a press release.

The library fair begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10. The fair includes thousands of books for sale, homemade baked goods, plants from local gardens and family activities.
