SOUTH SALEM, N.Y. – One of the area’s longest running traditions kicks off next week when the South Salem Fire Department’s annual carnival opens it gates Tuesday.
The carnival is from Aug. 7-11 at the grounds of the firehouse on Route 35; plenty of parking is available.
The parade will start at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The parade will travel along Route 35 from Spring Street to the South Salem firehouse. It will feature the various town fire departments from Lewisboro, as well many from surrounding communities. There also will be plenty of marching bands.
The carnival, which dates back to 1939, will feature rides for kids of all ages, including classics such as a Ferris wheel and bumper cars, as well as games and plenty of food concessions.
The carnival is from 6-10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 6-11 p.m. Friday; and 5-10 p.m. Saturday.
