What To Do Around North Salem This Week

Monday, Oct. 15

AARP Defensive Driving Course: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Take a full-day course in defensive driving at the Somers Library. You must bring a valid driver’s license, bag lunch, beverage and a pen. Pre-payment is required. The fee is $17 for AARP members, $19 for non-members. Make checks out to AARP and submit them at the library reference desk. The Somers Library is at 82 Primrose St. in Reis Park.

General Election Candidate Forum: 7:30 p.m. The Somers League of Women Votes is hosting a candidate forum. The following candidates have been invited:

  • U.S. Rep. Nan Hayworth (R) – District 18
  • Sean Maloney (D) – challenger, District 18
  • State Sen. Greg Ball (R) – District 40
  • Justin Wagner (D) – challenger, District 40
  • Assemblyman Stephen Katz (R) – District 94
  • Andrew Falk (D) – challenger, District 94
  • Anthony Cirieco (R, C, I) – Somers Council 
  • George Dieter (D, I, W) – Somers Council

The forum takes place at Somers Library, at 82 Primrose St., in Reis Park.

Tuesday, Oct. 16

At the Ruth Keeler: 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Children’s events begin at 10:30 a.m. with Mother Goose Story Time, followed at 4 p.m. by the Children’s Craft Hour. Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.

Wednesday, Oct. 17

At the Ruth Keeler: 11 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to attend a block party. Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.

Meeting of the North Salem Board of Education: 7:30 p.m. The board will meet in the library of the North Salem Middle/High School, 230 June Road, North Salem.

North Salem Planning Board Work Session: 7:30 p.m. The board will meet in the Town House Annex, 274 Titicus Road, North Salem.

Thursday, Oct. 18

Puppets with Elizabeth: 10:30 a.m. The program continues every Thursday at the same time until the end of the year. Ruth Keeler Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.
