What To Do Around North Salem This Weekend

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Here are some events planned in the Pound Ridge, Lewisboro and North Salem area for Easter weekend.

Friday, March 29

Front Street Wine Tasting: 5 to 8 p.m. Front Street Cellar will hold a wine tasting to celebrate Passover, Easter and the beginning of spring. The shop is at 3 Front St. in the old Croton Falls train station.

Schoolhouse Theater: 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday are your last chances to see Jon Robin Baitz’s “Ten Unknowns” at the newly renovated theater. Tickets are $35. The Schoolhouse Theater is at 3 Owens Road, Croton Falls.

Saturday, March 30

Trailside Museum: 2 p.m. Staff members of the museum at the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation will discuss the different types of animals who lay eggs, and introduce you to some of them. The event concludes with an opportunity to make your own edible nest, complete with egg, to take home. There is a $4 parking fee for non-members but no charge for the event. Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is on Route 121, near Route 35, in Cross River.

Ridgefield Playhouse: 8 p.m. “Arrival from Sweden,” the only touring band ever sanctioned by ABBA, will present a slew of ABBA’s greatest hits. Tickets are $52. The Ridgefield Playhouse is at 80 East Ridge Road, Ridgefield, CT. 

Schoolhouse Theater: 8 p.m. This is your last chance to see Jon Robin Baitz’s “Ten Unknowns”. Tickets are $35. The Schoolhouse Theater is at 3 Owens Road, Croton Falls.

Sunday, March 31

Among the churches with special Easter services are:

Pound Ridge Community ChurchGood Friday Service at 7:30 p.m.; Easter dawn service at Pound Ridge Town Park at 7 a.m.; traditional worship on Easter at 10 a.m. Pound Ridge Community Church is at 3 Pound Ridge Road.

St. John's Episcopal Church: Easter Service of Holy Eucharist at 9:30 a.m. followed by an Easter Egg Hunt from 11 to 11:30 a.m. St. John's Episcopal Church is at 82 Spring St. in South Salem.

St. James Episcopal Church: Easter Day Services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. There will be no sunrise service this year. St. James Episcopal Church is at the intersection of June and Titicus Roads in North Salem.

St. Joseph’s Catholic Church: Stations of the Cross on Good Friday at noon; regular services on Saturday and Easter Sunday. St. Joseph's Catholic Church is at 10 Croton Falls Road in Croton Falls.

Among the restaurants with special Easter menus are:

Purdy's Farmer & the Fish: The prix-fixe brunch, served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature a first course including lobster bisque, beau soleil oysters, and Easter pie; the second course offers a choice of eggs benedict, lobster omelet, steak & eggs and a choice of desserts. The price is $45 for adults, $25 for children.

The prix-fixe dinner, served from 2 to 8 p.m., features a first course of beau soleil oysters, frutta di mare, lobster bisque and other appetizers; the second course includes roast fresh ham, leg of lamb, grilled Florida snapper and other entrees and a choice of desserts. The price is $60 for adults, $35 for children. Purdy's Farmer & the Fish is at 100 Titicus Road in Purdys.

Le Chateau: The prix-fixe menu includes appetizers, such as duck confit and foie gras in puff pastry, timbale of fresh and smoked salmon and vegetable ravioli; mesclun salad; entrees such as roasted beef tenderloin, sauteed shrimp, sauteed veal chop; assorted desserts. The price is $68 for adults. Le Chateau is at 1410 Route 35 in South Salem.

Bernard’sThe prix-fixe brunch, served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., includes appetizers such as warm asparagus hollandaise with smoked salmon and duck, pistachio and truffle terrine; entrees such as eggs benedict, basil linguini, beef wellington; assorted desserts. The price is $45 per person.

The prix-fixe dinner, served from 1 to 6 p.m., includes appetizers like asparagus soup and lobster fricassee; entrees such as red snapper and roaster loin or lamb; assorted deserts. The price is $70 per person. Bernard's is on 20 West Lane (Route 35) in Ridgefield, CT.
