What To Do Around North Salem This Weekend

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Here are some events planned in the Pound Ridge, Lewisboro and North Salem area this weekend.

Friday, June 7

Update: Due to the inclement weather, The North Salem High School Drama Club Cabaret has been postponed to Thursday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m.

Cabaret: 7:30 p.m. The North Salem High School Drama Club will host a Cabaret along with refreshments. The suggested donation is $5 per person. All proceeds go to charity. The show takes place in the North Salem High School cafeteria at 230 June Road, North Salem.

Red Hot Lovers: 8 p.m. This is the first week of the Schoolhouse Theater’s newest production, Neil Simon’s “Last of the Red Hot Lovers.” Tickets are $33 for Thursday and Friday evening performances. The newly refurbished Schoolhouse Theater is at 3 Owens Road, Croton Falls, just off I-684 Exit 8 (Hardscrabble Road.)

Saturday, June 8

Pack Chat for Kids: 11 a.m. Come and meet the six-week-old Ambassador wolf pup, learn something new about wolves and hike out to say hello and howl a bit with Alawa, Zephyr and Atka (if he’s not out being an ambassador elsewhere). The fee is $13 for adults, $11 for children under 12. Pre-registration is required. It takes place at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.

Stream Study for Children: 1 p.m. This program is designed for kids of all ages who want to learn what goes on in the streams around the Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. Children will be provided with dip-nets to explore the waters. Water shoes are recommended. There is no charge. The reservation is on Route 121, just south of Route 35 in Cross River.

Artist’s Reception: 2 to 4:30 p.m. Pound Ridge artist Suzanne Herbert presents the culmination of five years’ work, ranging from watercolors to oils to enameled rocks. The exhibition is titled “Art in Sequence.” It will run from June 8 to July 20. Half the proceeds of all art sales will benefit the library and other charities. The show is at the Pound Ridge Library, 271 Westchester Avenue, Pound Ridge.

Evening Howl for Adults Only: 7 p.m. Visit the wolves and learn some fascinating things about them while you enjoy wine and cheese. The program is limited to adults over 21. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $20. It takes place at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.

Sunday, June 9

Sketching Safari: 9 a.m. to noon. Wildlife artist Alison Nicholls talks about her challenges sketching wildlife in the field and offers tips as you try your own hand at sketching the ambassador wolves. The program is recommended for people 13 years of age and older. Pre-registration is required. The fee is $60. The event takes place at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.

Muscoot Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Muscoot’s seasonal farmers market is now a weekly event, continuing until the end of October. There will be dozens of vendors selling prepared food and many sellers of locally grown produce. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, about a mile south of Route 35, in Somers.

Mudd Day Run: 10 a.m. The first annual Mudd Day Run to benefit the United States Association of Blind Athletes takes place at the Thunder Ridge Ski Area (just off Route 22) in Patterson. Entry fees are $45 for adults, $35 for 13-18-year olds, and $20 for 6-12-year olds. The event is on, rain or shine. Please note: No coolers or outside beverages will be permitted. Blood Drive: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 3rd annual Steven Siciliano Blood Drive takes place at the North Salem Ambulance Corps Building, 14 Daniel Road, North Salem (just off Exit 8 of I-684). For further information, call the New York Blood Center at (800) 688-0900.
