What To Do Around North Salem This Weekend

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Here are some events planned in the Pound Ridge, Lewisboro and North Salem area this weekend.

Friday, June 14

Sleeping With Wolves: 6 p.m. to 8:30 a.m., Saturday. Camp out overnight with the 23 wolves who live in South Salem. Hear the howls, watch the vultures in the sky and count the stars. The fee is $285 for a four-person tent. Singles are $150 each, but must bring their own tents. Pre-registration is required. It’s at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.

Red Hot Lovers: 8 p.m. This is the second week of the Schoolhouse Theater’s newest production, Neil Simon’s “Last of the Red Hot Lovers.” Tickets are $33 for Thursday and Friday evening performances. The newly refurbished Schoolhouse Theater is at 3 Owens Road, Croton Falls, just off Exit 8 of I-684 (Hardscrabble Road.)

Saturday, June 15

Bringing Balance to Yellowstone: 11 a.m. Learn about the growing wolf population of Yellowstone Park. You will get to visit the ambassador wolves as well. Don’t forget your camera. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for children. Pre-registration is required. It’s at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.

Artists’ Receptions: 1 to 3 p.m. North Salem’s Hammond Museum will present an exhibition titled "Erasing Borders - Contemporary Indian Art of the Diaspora" and a separate solo exhibit of works by New York and Key West artist, Stanley Zabar. Both exhibits will run until September 14. The Hammond Museum is at 28 Deveau Road, North Salem. For further information, go to the website.

Coffee House at St. James: 7 p.m. Enjoy an evening of coffee, wine, beer and good food and music, featuring local musicians performing rock/folk/jazz favorites, and a special appearance by Broadway star, Anne Runolfsson (“Phantom of the Opera” and “Les Miserables”). Tickets are $25 per person. Proceeds will benefit the Parish Hall Project. St. James Episcopal Church is at 296 Titicus Road, North Salem.

2nd Annual Firefly Festival: 7:30 p.m.  Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an evening lit by fireflies. It’s a family event and an ice cream social, and you’ll learn about fireflies as well. There is no charge. The Ward Pound Ridge Reservation is on  Route 121, just south of Route 35 in Cross River.

Sunday, June 16 - Father's Day

Muscoot Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Muscoot’s seasonal farmers market is now a weekly event, continuing until the end of October. There will be dozens of vendors selling prepared food and many sellers of locally grown produce. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, about a mile south of Route 35, in Somers.

Throw Daddy To the Wolves: 11 a.m. Teach Daddy all about wolves and introduce him to the ambassadors, as well as the red wolves and Mexican grays. Tickets are $13 for adults, $11 for children under 12. Don’t forget your camera. Pre-registration is required. It’s at the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem.
