NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Here are some events planned in the Pound Ridge, Lewisboro and North Salem area this weekend.

Friday, June 21

Red Hot Lovers: 8 p.m. The Schoolhouse Theater’s newest production, Neil Simon’s “Last of the Red Hot Lovers,” continues this week. The newly refurbished Schoolhouse Theater is at 3 Owens Road, Croton Falls, just off Exit 8 of I-684 (Hardscrabble Road.)

Saturday, June 22

John Jay Farmers Market: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is the opening day of the popular farmers market on the grounds of the John Jay Homestead. Farm stands this year include Amba Farms, Cabbage Hill Farm, JD Farms, Mt. Holly Farm, Tiny Hearts Farm, John Boy’s Farm, Gaia’s Breath Farm, and more. Among the vendors will be Ladle of Love, Wave Hill Breads, Red Barn Bakery, Whitecliff Vineyards and Bedford’s Truck Restaurant. The John Jay Homestead is at 400 Jay Street in Katonah.

Gardening with Native Plants & Shrubs: 10:30 a.m. Take a hike with naturalist Jim Nordgren and learn how to naturalize your garden with native botanicals. The walk will take about an hour-and-a-half and is rated as moderate exercise. Meet at the Mount Lakes Camp Park Office, near the Hawley Street entrance to Mount Lakes Park in North Salem. The Art of Making Sushi: 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Learn the fine art of Japanese culinary culture with special instructions and demonstrations by expert Yoshimi Arai. Two sessions will be offered, one at 11:30 a.m. and another at 1 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $5 for children under 12. It’s at the Hammond Museum, 28 Deveau Road, North Salem. Muscoot Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Muscoot’s seasonal farmers market is now a weekly event, continuing until the end of October. There will be dozens of vendors selling prepared food and many sellers of locally grown produce. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, about a mile south of Route 35, in Somers.

Annual ALS Walk: 10 a.m. The 11th Annual Walk to Defeat ALS will take place at Manhattanville College this year. The funds raised will help researchers find the cause and a possible cure for the always fatal illness also known as “Lou Gehrig’s disease.” Everyone is invited to join in the walk or to come and cheer. Manhattanville College is at 2900 Purchase Ave. in Purchase. It is easily accessed from Route 120, I-684 or the Hutchinson River Parkway. Beyond the Garden Gate: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Explore six unique gardens in Vista, Pound Ridge and South Salem in a garden tour sponsored by the Lewisboro and Westchester Land Trusts and Lewisboro Garden Club. The tour will be held rain or shine. Tickets are $30 per person. Children under 12 are free, but note that not all sites are stroller-friendly and no dogs are permitted. The tour starts at Onatru Farm, 99 Elmwood Road, South Salem. Tickets are available at the door.
