Monday, Aug. 13

Empowerment/Media Literacy Workshop: 3:30 to 5 p.m. North Salem High School senior Alexa Salvato will talk about media and society's negative influence on young girls, and how they can thrive in spite of it. Girls in fifth through eighth grades are invited. It is a single-session workshop and will be offered four times: Monday and Tuesday of this week, and Monday and Tuesday of next week. Qualifying Tests for Somers Wildlife Management Program: 3 to 6 p.m. The Somers Parks and Recreation Department will hold qualifying tests on Monday and Tuesday. Participants must bring their New York state hunting license, a bow and broad tips. Tests will be administered at the Angle Fly Preserve, Route 139, Somers. Drop-in Art: 7 p.m. Maggie Zander will show you the routes to creative fun. Everyone is welcome. There is no fee and no registration, and the basic materials are supplied. Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.

Tuesday, Aug. 14

Tuesday Crafts: 4 p.m. Join your child to create a special craft project in the children’s room of the library. All ages are invited. The program is co-sponsored by the North Salem Recreation Department. Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.

North Salem Town Board Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The board will meet in the Town Hall Annex, 274 Titicus Road, North Salem.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

Board Games: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to play board games, or any other kind of games, all day at the library. Bring your own games or play with ones you find there. Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.

Block Party: 11 a.m. Budding architects and engineers of all ages can come and build with the library’s supply of blocks every Wednesday during the summer. Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.

North Salem Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 a.m. A special meeting of the North Salem school board will be held in the district conference room at North Salem Middle/High School, 230 June Road.

Thursday, Aug. 16

Puzzle Day: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Children of all ages are welcome to come and enjoy assembling puzzles. Bring your own our use one of the library’s. Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.

Drawing With Maggie Zander: 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. This is another in the eight-session weekly course geared to adults over 55 and funded by a grant from Creative Aging in New York State Libraries.
