What’s Happening Around North Salem This Weekend

Friday, Sept. 7

Joey D Jazz at Le Fontane: Joey DiGrazia returns with John Fiscella on guitar and Steve Chetcuti on sax and flute, playing jazz standards and numbers from the American Songbook. Call 914-232-9619 for reservations. 137 Somerstown Road (Route 100) in Somers.

Saturday, Sept. 8

Conversation and Coffee with Expert Gardeners: 10 a.m. Join local expert gardeners, sip coffee and pick their brains for ideas and solutions. It’s at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.

Sunday, Sept. 9

Farmers Market: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish and delicacies from local farmers and artisans are available. The Muscoot Farmers Market will continue every Sunday through October. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Grandparents Day: 1 - 3 p.m. Children are invited to bring their grandparents to Muscoot to celebrate 2012 Grandparents Day. There will be interesting displays and events for the entire family. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1 ½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.

Open Gardens: The Westchester Garden Conservancy will sponsor several open garden events in the area. There is a $5 entry fee at each site.

  • The White Garden: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. These gardens were designed by landscape architect Patrick Chassé, ASLA, and completed in 1999. 199 Elmwood Road, Lewisboro. 
  • Home of James and Susan Henry: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. These lovely gardens are in a 19th century farm setting. 36 Mead St., Waccabuc.
  • Ice Pond Farm, Home of Dick Button: 1 - 6 p.m. This is an unusual and  fascinating property with a variety of gardens. North Salem. For further directions, call the Garden Conservancy, 845-424-6500.
