“North Korea’s launch of a long-range missile in mid-December ... underscored a larger reality that can no longer be ignored,” Bracken wrote in the March 1 issue of Project Syndicate. “The world has entered a second nuclear age. The atomic bomb has returned for a second act, a post-Cold War encore. This larger pattern needs to be understood if it is to be managed.”

In his new book Bracken suggests scenarios that could change the world’s balance of power, analyzes events and current attitudes in the Middle East, South Asia and East Asia, and underscores America’s need to be prepared for various possibilities.

The talk begins at 3 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be served. The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library is at 276 Titicus Road, North Salem. For more information about this special event, call 914-669-5161.
