Dunk Into National Doughnut Day, Westchester

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. --- It seems every day is something, be it be nice to your sister day, national wear a hat day, national coffee day, and so on, but nothing seems to get folks more excited than national doughnut day, which falls on the first Friday of June.

Participating Dunkin' Donuts are offering a free doughnut with a beverage purchase.
Enjoy local flavor (though no promises on deals) at Enrico's Pastry Shop in Hartsdale, Twin Donut in Yonkers and New Rochelle, Galloway's Bakery in Scarsdale or Bagels on Hudson in Croton.

National Doughnut Day dates to 1938 Chicago. The unofficial holiday was created to honor The Salvation Army "Doughnut Girls," who provided writing supplies, stamps, clothes-mending, home-cooked meals, and donuts for soldiers on the front lines. History and more information HERE.
