The Kitchen Table, Pound Ridge

What Makes It “Strong”: Until local resident Daphne Everett stepped up to the plate in 2014, there really wasn’t a place in Pound Ridge for folks to sit and chat with friends over a nice cup of coffee and a muffin or light nosh. But now her chic, country café, Kitchen Table, has become the go-to place in the sleepy hamlet of Scott’s Corners to munch on a breakfast burrito or have an avocado toast with an egg. And what goes better with baked goods, or bacon, than some java?

Kitchen Table’s growing legion of foodie fans say it serves an exceptional – and exceptionally large – cup of Joe. Have it hot or iced; both are said to be -- like its friendly staff -- awesome. It gets all its beans from Bonjo, a mom-and-pop roastery in Stamford, Conn. The breakfast blend has a high flavor profile and the decaf, made from Guatemalan beans is, Everett says, "very clean." But it's the Italian espresso that brings tears of joy to coffee lovers' eyes.
