Ken and Ginny Ryan found their niche 10 years ago - offering custom framing, unique gifts of all kinds, and a quality photo print shop - and brought a friendly, family atmosphere, and a professional work ethic to the table as well.

And the formula has worked.

"We both had other jobs, and I wasn't enjoying mine," Ken Ryan recalled of that time 10 years ago when he and Ginny - with six children under age 10 - decided they wanted more.

"She was an artist, had been painting since she was a kid," Ryan said. "And I was always kind of a hobbiest, a woodworker. As we were looking at ideas we came across a frame shop, and said 'this could be interesting.' "

They opened in 2006 and haven't looked back. Today the shop offers every type of framing, as well as a wide array of gifts, clothing, scarves and jewelry, as well as photo restoration and photo and canvas printing.

"In the beginning it was a little scary," Ryan recalled of the 2006 opening. "We  didn't know anything about retail. And with six young kids to feed."

But the community response was supportive, and the business added more gifts, more services, and grew.

The shop has twice won Westchester Magazine's Best of Westchester award for Best Custom Picture Framing.

"We take a lot of pride in our custom framing," Ryan said. "And the gift part too - Ginny and Donna Santagate (who handles buying and merchandise at the shop) work very hard to get quality gifts, unique gifts that are well-priced. And we always have new stuff, fresh stuff coming in.

"I think our success comes from a combination of service and merchandise," Ryan added. "We work hard, try to give our business a personal touch, we're a family-run business, and we try to get to know everyone."
