NWH Makes Eating Healthy Delicious At Community Cooking Demonstration

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Who says eating healthy needs to be a chore? Thanks to Northern Westchester Hospital dietitian Amy Rosenfeld, time-strapped professionals and families can learn to eat healthy without sacrificing flavor at an upcoming healthy cooking demonstration hosted by the Mount Pleasant Library.

"The goal of these demonstrations is to provide fun and interactive experiences with health and nutrition," said Rosenfeld. "We want people to learn the skills to cook, rather than just hear about them." In this tasty community event, Rosenfeld will examine the idea of "Healthy Eating Without Sacrificing Flavor," tackling the myth that equates healthy food with blandness.

"If you learn how to make a healthy dish, you can incorporate the flavors that you love," said Rosenfeld. "Good nutrition really starts in the kitchen, and we want to provide families with the confidence to cook at home."

Guests of the presentation should bring their appetites, Rosenfeld advised, as samples of everything cooked will be shared with those in attendance. "When trying to cook at home, people get overwhelmed by the number of steps," she said." It doesn’t need to be complicated. People should be excited, not intimidated." By demonstrating several quick and delicious family-friendly meals, she hopes to teach guests that eating healthy can be fun and delicious, no matter the weeknight.

The cooking demonstration will be held on April 3 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Mount Pleasant Library. The event is free of charge, but reservations are strongly recommended. For more information and to register, call 914-769-0548.
