Pick Up Black Gold Compost To Support North Salem

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Everyone in North Salem who intends to plant a garden this year is invited to grab a bucket or a box and go to Three Ponds Farm on Saturday, April 27, to collect a heap of Black Gold, the locally famous compost, made from the northeast’s Black Angus Cattle.

Bring as many containers as you can haul. Clean five-gallon buckets, such as paint buckets, are recommended. The farm will provide bags, pitchforks and assistance. The suggested donation is $5 per five-gallon bucket.

The compost will be available between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

All proceeds go to the North Salem Improvement Society (NSIS). The compost is available through the generosity of Deputy Town Supervisor, Peter Kamenstein.

Three Ponds Farm is at 155 Finch Road (near Vail Lane) in North Salem. Look for the NSIS sign on the south side of Finch Road. For more information, or to arrange for a large quantity pickup, write to northsalemimprovementsociety@gmail.com.
