Putnam Hospital Center Holds American Red Cross Blood Drive

CARMEL, N.Y. – The American Red Cross has a critical need for blood donors throughout the holiday season.

Putnam Hospital Center will be hosting a blood drive to help replenish the American Red Cross' supply, which often sees a dip during year's end.

Putnam Hospital Center is stepping in to help fill that gap by hosting a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22, in the Michael T. Weber Conference Room 2 at 670 Stoneleigh Ave.

During December, there are often fewer blood donations because of the holidays, inclement weather, seasonal illnesses and school vacations, according to the American Red Cross. In the New York-Penn blood services region, the organization needs to collect approximately 1,000 units of blood each day to meet the needs of patients.

The blood drive is open to Putnam Hospital Center employees and the general public. A commemorative Red Cross long-sleeved T-shirt will be provided to donors while supplies last.

To make an appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit the Red Cross' website and use sponsor code 'Putnam Hospital.' Walk-ins are also welcome.
