NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – The kindergarten students at North Salem’s Pequenakonck Elementary School made their second annual sojourn to the Salem Hills Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Purdys last week to visit with the residents, some of whom are nearly 100 years their senior.
The children colored pictures with the residents, sang songs for them and presented them with flowers, set in a flowerpot signed by all the children. The plant is on display on the facility’s patio.
Children from Pequenakonck remember the folks at Salem Hills throughout the year, presenting them with handmade gifts at Valentine’s Day, Memorial Day and other holidays.
