He went on to coach the Canadian Three-Day Olympic team and had the honor of serving as chef d’equipe at the 1988 and 1992 Olympics and at the 1990 World Championships.
He is a world-recognized show judge, an esteemed clinician and an active member of numerous professional committees.
Page began his career at Bedford’s Sunnyfield Farm, and lived in an apartment over the Bedford Playhouse. Later, he worked with George Morris at the facility now known as Old Salem Farm.
The North Salem Daily Voice asked Page what he likes about living in North Salem. This is his reply:
Roots
“I’ve been involved with horses for 50 years. I’ve seen today’s professionals grow up. I’ve judged them and taught them as they grew up. I remember when [Olympian] Mclain Ward was born.”
Location
“Georgette and I moved to North Salem for its great location. It’s got open land, it’s near the Danbury Mall, and it’s only one hour to midtown New York.”
Schools
“Georgette and I were very happy with the school system. Our son, Matthew, started at the North Salem Nursery School, went to PQ [Pequenakonck Elementary School] and then to the high school.”
Professional Opportunities
“The horse activity in North Salem is unique and special. I trained and coached at Old Salem Farm for Paul Newman and then for Paul Greenwood, and during that time Town & Country Magazine named it one of the five top three-day eventing barns in the world.”
Equestrian Atmosphere
“Old Salem is still a great center for riding. Some of the best riders in the country are there.”
In addition to his daily personal and professional equestrian activities, Page is now on the teaching staff of Connecticut’s Kent School.
