NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - Several exciting programs are coming up at The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library .
On Saturday at 10:30 a.m., North Salems Tiffany Buchholtz will entertain youngsters with activities and stories in English and Mandarin in honor of the upcoming Chinese New Year. The Year of the Dragon begins on January 23. It is 4710 on the Chinese calendar. Children of all ages are invited to enjoy Buchholtz's presentation.
On Sunday at 2 p.m., local resident Alan Sklar , whose voice you may recognize from his many commercials and award-winning audiobooks, will read Hillards Ceremony by Lawrence Block, Grand Master of the Mystery Writers of America. Sunday, January 22 will bring author Dennis Corcoran to the Ruth Keeler to talk about his book entitled, Induction Day at Cooperstown: A History of the Baseball Hall of Fame . On Saturday, February 4 at 6 p.m., author Joel E. Fishman will talk about his new novel, Primacy: A Thriller , which centers on the world of animal testing. Amazon reviewers give it five stars and call it fast-paced, suspenseful and action-packed. Refreshments will follow.
On another note, the editorial staff of the librarys literary journal, The North Salem Review , which debuted last year, is accepting submissions for its next issue from writers and artists as well. Submission via computer is preferred but hard print will also be accepted. The deadline is March 1.
