Salty Bath, which launched in September, is a monthly subscription service, which delivers all natural, organic self-care packages to subscribers’ doorsteps. Each box is filled with artisanal and small-batch bath and mindful products to help recipients rejuvenate their spirit.

“Recharging is essential, and I’m not talking about smartphones,” said Co-Founder McCarthy who started the company with her husband, Dan. “Women need to nurture themselves – emotionally, physically, spiritually, and mentally."

McCarthy, a PR and marketing executive, admitted she was "one of those reformed crazy-busy people" juggling a family, a career and many creative pursuits and fell into the trap that as long as she was taking care of everyone else, she was fine.

In reality, though, she was stressed and realized she needed to make changes.

McCarthy said baths have always been therapeutic for her, but she lacked a structured routine that combined relaxation with wellness and mindfulness. With that in mind, she started meditating while taking a 20-minute, warm salty soak with essential oils.

"The impact on my body and spirit was astonishing," she said.

It helped that she's always created her own bath recipes and has used essential oils for decades.

Which is how the idea for Salty Bath came to her. While the product is primarily geared to harried moms, it's meant for anyone who wants to relax and recharge in the convenience of their own home. And that includes men who McCarthy said are a growing portion of her customers.

Along with self-care, she added that Salty Bath soaks help clients sleep better, soothe tired muscles and joints, and eliminate toxins.

Monthly subscriptions start at $27.95 and feature a range of custom-made, small-batch bath soaks and body products as well as a curated mix of mindful items such as healing crystals, a specially artist-designed mandala mantra card, reiki-charged candles, and artisanal goods such as soaps, bath bombs, and more.

Every box also features a surprise inside. Said McCarthy: "The crown jewel of every delivery is the Salty Bath Salt Soak – a mix of Dead Sea salts and magnesium sulfate infused with therapeutic-grade essential oils that changes each month."

The company also donates a percentage of sales to support charities dedicated to bathing the homeless as well as to clean water initiatives.
