Hélène Grimaud, who is also a published author, joins the Stamford Symphony for two concerts on Saturday April 25th at 8 p.m. and Sunday April 26th at 3 p.m., at the Palace Theatre.
She will be performing Brahms Concerto No. 1 in D minor and Beethoven Symphony 3 in E-flat Major Eroica. The Symphony will also perform works by C.P.E. Bach and Beethoven.
Grimaud is a world class pianist known for her poetic expression and peerless technical control. Born in Aix-En-Provence, France she studied piano at the conservatory in Marseille and at the age of 13, was accepted into the Paris Conservatoire where she won first prize in piano performance. She continued to study with world class teachers until 1987 when she gave her well received debut in Tokyo.
Tickets start at $22; Kids under 18 free on Sunday. There will also be a free "Behind the Baton" lecture one hour pre-concert with Conductor Eckart Preu.
