Warm Weather Makes Gardeners Bloom

After nearly two weeks of rainy weather, the emergence of the sun and accompanying warm weather brought gardeners out in droves over the holiday weekend. "They almost cleaned us out," said Tim Walsh of the Country Farmer on Bloomer Road in North Salem, N.Y. "Flowers, vegetables and supplies — they were buying it as fast as we could put it out."

For those not willing to wait for their own crops to come in, the store also had a large supply of locally grown produce. Some of the hothouse tomatoes, shipped from a farm in Connecticut, were the size of grapefruit and nearly as juicy.
