Award-Winning Documentary at the Schoolhouse

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - The Schoolhouse Theater (TST) will present a screening of the award-winning documentary, A Sea Change, on Sunday, October 16 at 4 p.m.

Retired history teacher Sven Huseby was so moved by Elizabeth Kolbert's "The Darkening Sea," published in the November 20, 2006 issue of The New Yorker that he decided to find out for himself whether Kolbert's disheartening analyses could possibly be true.

Film-maker Barbara Ettinger followed Huseby in his journey from Alaska to Norway as he explored the sea and gleaned the thoughts and comments of oceanographers, marine biologists, climatologists and artists along the way.

As he traveled, Huseby conducted a touching correspondence with his young grandson, in which he pondered the ever-changing world and what one generation leaves for the next.

A Sea Change was received with a standing ovation at its 2009 Smithsonian debut and has garnered multiple accolades at film festivals throughout North America and Europe.

A reception and panel discussion with film-maker Barbara Ettinger will follow the screening.

Tickets are $10 general admission, $8 for students and TST subscribers. For reservations or more information call 914-277-8477.
