Brewster Woman Charged With Assaulting Roommate

BREWSTER, N.Y. -- New York State Police from the Brewster barracks charged a local woman with assaulting her roommate on Sunday, officials said.

Troopers responded to a call within the Village of Brewster and discovered that Dinora D. Ortega, 37, allegedly attacked her roommate with a knife, police said.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said. 

Ortega was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. She was remanded to Putnam County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash or $300,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20, police said.
