Buchholtz and Monti Defeat White in GOP Primary

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - The unofficial tally of election results reported by North Salem Town Clerk Veronica Howley is that Bruce Buchholtz and Bill Monti have defeated John White in the Republican primary election. Buchholtz and Monti will therefore be the Republican candidates for the two open Town Board seats in the November election.

Monti was the leading vote-getter with 210, followed by Buchholtz with 206. White received 158 votes, Seven out of eight districts reported results. These results do not include 34 votes cast in District 5, which have not been counted due to a malfunctioning voting machine. Absentee, emergency and write-in ballots are also not included.

Official results will be announced some time after September 22 when the voting machines have all been recanvassed.

In addition to the Republican ticket, Monti and Buchholtz will also run for Town Board on the Conservative ticket. White will run on the Independence ticket.

Amy Rosmarin will run on the Democratic and Independence tickets.
