CROTON FALLS, N.Y. – The Board of Directors of The Schoolhouse Theater has appointed Patrick Michael Denny of Lewisboro, to serve as its interim artistic director.

In addition to staging Main Stage productions, Denny is committed to growing the number of events at the theater, welcoming younger audiences and creating programming more inclusive of the community.

“We want the Schoolhouse to be a place where kids come to learn and their parents come to be entertained,” Denny said.  A new theater arts program and special needs performances will be announced in the upcoming months.

Pamela Moller Kareman, who recently stepped down as artistic director, worked for many years to build the reputation of The Schoolhouse as an outstanding professional theater, directing countless Broadway-quality shows. In the last few years, she took on additional responsibility as executive director of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater, the highly regarded acting conservatory in New York City.

“Pam poured chutzpah, knowledge and unbounded affection for the theater into her work here," Schoolhouse founder Lee Pope said. "She introduced scores of incredibly talented performers to our stage and provided first-rate entertainment to our audiences. We are most appreciative of her many contributions and know that she will be greatly missed.”

Quinn Cassavale, who served as general manager for many years, also has left the staff. Cassavale ran the theater while practicing her craft.

Denny has worked in professional theater for more than 20 years, with experience on Broadway, off Broadway, national tours, regional theater and local venues. His company, Tanata Productions, is based in Croton Falls, and he lives nearby with his wife, Tara, and family.

“Patrick’s life work has been connected for years to every aspect of theater: wordplay, writing, acting, teaching, directing, producing, promoting and helping each of us find a clearer understanding of our world. We are proud and happy to have him," Pope said.
