Flooding, Accidents Cause Thursday Morning Delays

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The heavy rain overnight resulted in flooding and a fallen tree Thursday morning and there were also several major accidents.

The southbound Hutchinson River Parkway was closed for the entire morning commute between Webster Avenue (Exit 16) in New Rochelle and East 3rd Street (Exit 10) in Mount Vernon after a tractor-trailer that struck the overpass is being cleared. 

An accident was reported on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway between I-287 (Exit 22) and Saw Mill Road (Exit 23). The accident, at 9:15 a.m., has resulted in stop-and-go traffic. 

The right lane of the southbound Bronx River Parkway was flooded in White Plains between Chatterton Avenue and Main Street.

The fallen tree was blocking Pleasantville Road between the Taconic State Parkway and Route 100/Route 9A.

There was gridlock on southbound I-95 near the Westchester border where a jackknifed tractor trailer blocked two lanes between East Avenue (Exit 16) and Post Road in Greenwich, Conn. There were rubbernecking delays northbound.

An accident on the New York/Connecticut border on the southbound Merritt between Round Hill Road (Exit 28) and Route 120A (King Street) was reported at 9:25 a.m.

An earlier overturned tractor trailer blocked the right lane of eastbound I-84 between Lime Kiln Road (Exit 15) and the Taconic Parkway (Exit 16). No injuries were reported.
