U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand visited northern Westchester County last week to endorse the re-election of County Legislator Pete Harckham. Harckham represents District 2 on the Westchester County Board of Legislators, which includes Lewisboro, Pound Ridge, Bedford, Mount Kisco, North Salem and part of Somers.
“I am pleased to give my endorsement to Peter Harckham. Pete has a record of working in a bipartisan manner to help address the difficult challenges our communities face. He has exactly the experience we need in Westchester County," Gillibrand said. “I know that Pete will continue to advocate for the people of Westchester, and I urge voters to join me in supporting Peter Harckham’s re-election to the County Legislature.”
Harckham said he was grateful for the senator’s support and to be recognized for his achievements as a county legislator, which he said included reducing the size of the county workforce and protecting the environment. He said continuing to work in a bipartisan fashion would be crucial to the success of the board of legislators.
“I believe we need far less rhetoric and more people willing to reach across the aisle to achieve solutions,” she said.
