The Junior League of Northern Westchester is an organization of women trained for effective leadership in community activities and dedicated to the belief that volunteer service is an essential part of responsible citizenship.

This is the third installation of Kids Helping Kids/The Healing Power of Art and Community Outreach that the Junior League began a year ago as part of a project to refurbish the pediatric family room and provide joy and good wishes to the more than 375 children that come through the hospital every year.

In an effort to instill the importance of volunteerism in young people, the Junior League talked about ways children can and do volunteer and make a difference in the community. They learned about the longtime partnership between the Junior League and the hospital and how this project was a continuation of a project completed in 2003 to renovate the family room in the pediatric wing.

Today, the Junior League provides women in Northern Westchester with opportunities to do service and build relationships with different agencies in the community through a number of other ongoing projects.

The league will be holding an informational event in the fall for those interested in learning about joining the Junior League of Northern Westchester. For more information, contact the JLNW at (914) 234-4714 or email info@jlnw.org.
