The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Putnam residents regarding the residency of 69-year-old William Dietz, who has moved to an apartment on Sodom Road in Brewster.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Dietz a Level 3 threat, which means he is a “high-risk repeat offender and possible threat to public safety.”

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Dietz sexually abused an 11-year-old girl, two 12-year-old girls and a 13-year-old girl in New Jersey in September 1983. Dietz was convicted of having sexual intercourse, deviate sexual intercourse and sexual contact with his victims. He was convicted of a felony sex offense that same month and sentenced to a term of between one day and 15 years in state prison. Dietz is now under the jurisdiction of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.
