NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - A Titicus Road resident heard a crash outside her house late on August 13 and saw two people with flashlights outside, examining what seemed to be a motorcycle accident damaging her fence. When she went outside, the people were gone but the motorcycle remained. She took the license number and noted the bike had black saddlebags with rhinestones. The following morning the bike was gone. Police traced the license number to a Croton Falls address. When contacted, the biker said he had reported the incident to the Somers State Police. The North Salem officer returned to the Titicus Road address and found the owner meeting with a contractor, who had been sent by the motorcycle owner to make repairs. The homeowner said she was satisfied.
On August 16, a dispute between a resident of Titicus Road and some technicians from Best Buy Electronics led to a police call. The homeowner refused to return tools left behind by the technicians because she had hired a private plumber to install her new washer and dryer and she felt that Best Buy owed her a credit. Furthermore, she said, they failed to deliver a piece of equipment. The technicians agreed that they owed her a stacking kit and said they would return to install it when it arrived. The woman returned the tools. Police advised her to consult the civil court.
On August 17 at about 6:30 p.m. a Hilltop Drive resident telephoned police to report a suspicious looking man, possibly black or hispanic, dressed in a white shirt and red cap, peering into the house and walking around the rear. Officers checked with several neighbors, who saw no one. When they returned to the residence, they learned that the homeowners son had come home and, noting that his parents were eating dinner, went to the side of the house and entered through the garage. He was wearing a white shirt and red cap and had a rather dark complexion. The officers determined that the son was the perpetrator.
