New Canaan Charity CEO Ranks Among 'World's Greatest Leaders' By Fortune

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan’s Kathy Giusti, the CEO of the Norwalk-based  Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, has been named one of “The World’s Greatest 50 Leaders” by Fortune Magazine.

Giusti was 19th on the list, according to the Fortune report. Pope Francis was selected No. 1. Other people in the Top 20 include Warren Buffet, Derek Jeter and Michael Bloomberg.

Giusti founded the MMRF in 1998 along with ther twin sister, Karen Andrews, of Greenwich. Giusti was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 1996. Giusti, a graduate of the Harvard Business School and a pharmaceutical executive, and Andrews founded the MMRF with the focus of funding transformative research as a catalyst in the development of progressive, life-extending treatments needed by multiple myeloma patients.

Giusti, as the CEO, applied her business skills to the science of cancer research and changed the culture of traditional non-profit model. Giusti and Andrews teamed to help MMRF run like a Fortune 500 company with a culture of speed, innovation and results.
