North Salem Librarians Honored With School-Public Library Cooperation Award

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- The Westchester Library Association recently awarded the School-Public Library Cooperation Award to Cynthia Sandler, the librarian of the North Salem Middle School/High School Library, and Carolyn Reznick, the director of Ruth Keeler Memorial Library.

Sandler and Reznick were honored with the award in recognition for their outstanding program, "Garden Air" and their commitment to bringing together schools and public libraries in the service of young people."

"Garden Air" is a show directed, edited and produced by North Salem High School students in the school's broadcast studio, which is located inside the school library. Each episode, hosted by Pam Pooley, features tips and secrets from gardening experts including Page Dickey. 

The next episode of "Garden Air" will be shot on location at the Spring Garden Gala in the North Salem Community Garden at North Salem MS/HS on Wednesday, June 11 at 6 p.m. "Garden Air" can be viewed on the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library website under adult programs  www.northsalemlibrary.org.

Two workshops, "Beneficial Insects and Organisms For the Organic Garden" and "Square Foot Gardening," will be offered from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Each workshop is $5 and pre-registration is required. Interested participants should call North Salem HS at 914-669-5414.
