NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library is looking for kids to take part in the "Battle of the Books" on Oct. 17.

The Battle of the Books is a countywide competition of young adults from all participating Westchester County public libraries. There will be two sections of Battle of the Books Competitions — teams will be divided by grades 4-6 or 6-9. Teams within their grade level will compete by answering trivia questions based on five different books.

Anyone entering grades 4-6 or grades 6-9 in September 2015 can join Battle of the Books.

Book list for grades 4-6:

“Because of Mr. Terupt” by Rob Buyea

“Bud Not Buddy” by Christopher Paul Curtis

“Cracker” by Cynthia Kadohata

“Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library” by Chris Grabenstien

“Gregor the Overlander” by Suzanne Collins

Book list for grades 6-9:

“How They Croaked: The Awful Ends of the Awfully Famous” by Georgia Bragg

“Hold Me Closer Necromancer” by Lish McBride

“Legend” by Marie Lu

“Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs

“Okay for Now” by Gary Schmidt

The winning teams’ libraries will receive trophies to display until the next battle. The top three teams per level will receive prizes and all participating students will receive a certificate.

Team meetings will be held on alternate Wednesday afternoons in July through September. Meeting dates will be announced later.
