Customers with post office boxes will continue to receive Saturday delivery. Packages will also be delivered on Saturdays.

The Postal Service said in a news release that customers are being informed six months in advance so they have time to adjust to the change.

Together with the current program of employee reassignment and attrition, the new plan is estimated to provide a Postal Service savings of approximately $2 billion per year.

So far, most Daily Voice Facebook readers seem comfortable about the alteration in service.

Lucinda Hicks-Beach Quinn wrote, “They should eliminate it now.” Greg Henry commented, “Go to three days a week and transition people over to online banking and bill paying.”
