NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – There was no estimate Wednesday midday on when electricity might be restored in North Salem. The town advised parents not to let their children go out  trick-or-treating Wednesday night, and school is closed for the rest of the week.

Here’s a roundup of what’s happening post-storm in town Wednesday:

Electricity – NYSEG is assessing the damage in North Salem and has not provided an estimate on the restoration of power. A conference call between NYSEG and town officials took place Wednesday morning. Of the 2,391 NYSEG customers in North Salem, 2,125 remained without power at noon Wednesday.

School – North Salem schools will be closed for the rest of the week.

Library – The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library is open, running on generator power. It has computers hooked up to the Internet, so users can check their email, but there is no WiFi.
