Murphy's Masters is a charitable social club that held its annual charity golf tournament in the fall at Pehquenakonck Country Club in North Salem.  The group raised $28,685 and made the donation to Robin Hood Relief Fund in memory of Bill Bott, who died in 2012.

This year’s Murphy’s Masters golf tournament was the largest one in the history of the organization with 125 golfers participating, representatives said. Each year, a different charity recipient is chosen based on specific issues that members hold close to their hearts.

"This year, Murphy’s Masters decided to donate to the Robin Hood Relief Fund, since so many of the towns and cities hit hardest by the storm were areas Bill Bott called home throughout his short, but full, life," representatives said.

“What makes this tournament so special are the people who come out to play and show their support,” said Andrew Murphy of Murphy’s Masters. “Bill Bott, grew up, lived, worked and vacationed in many of the areas devastated by Sandy. We knew that by giving to Robin Hood, every penny raised would go to organizations helping people who are still recovering from the storm, and that was a tremendous way to honor the memory of our dear friend Bott.”

Robin Hood managing director Patty Smith said the group was "deeply touched" by the donation.

“Even though the storm was more than a year ago, much work remains to be done to help return people to stable housing and get them back on their feet," Smith said. "We will ensure that this gift from Murphy’s Masters goes to organizations that can do the most good for victims of Hurricane Sandy.”
