NORTH SALEM, N.Y. A local resident told police he was driving his car behind a maroon pick-up truck on Route 22 in North Salem Sunday evening when he briefly beeped his horn in greeting to a friend.
The pick-up truck pulled over, allowing the car driver to pass, then tailgated him from Route 22 onto Hardscrabble Road. At Daniel Road, the car driver pulled over to allow the truck to pass. As the pick-up passed, a passenger shouted obscenities, the police report said.
When the pick-up driver pulled into the Harvest Moon parking lot, the car driver stopped to ask what the problem was. The truck passenger got out and pounded on the cars window, cursing and demanding him to roll the window down. The police report said the car driver complied and the passenger reached in, grabbed the driver, and accused him of high-beaming his sister, adding that hed better leave before I do something stupid.
