The adjournment of the review, which was first announced on the town of New Castle's website, concerns a joint work session that was planned for the Town Board and the Planning Board, the first scheduled since the latest plan was submitted to the town earlier this month.
The latest PDCP involves 120,000 square feet of retail space, including 40,000 for a Whole Foods and 80,000 for various retail uses, including a gym. The revised plan incorporates what is called "traditional neighborhood design," and has retail and residential buildings lined along the corridor that connects the complex to Route 117. It also preserves an auditorium building that was previously slated for demolition, while at the same time allowing for demolition of the 100 building so its space can be used for stormwater management. The plan also includes 111 housing units, which would be located along the eastern side of the property.
Summit/Greenfield is also requesting removal of a retail square footage limit that would impose a range of 1,500 to 5,000.
A copy of the newest PDCP is available on New Castle's website.
