NORTH SALEM, N.Y. Amy Rosmarin and Bruce Buchholtz have defeated Bill Monti and John White for the two open North Salem town council seats, according to unofficial board of election results.
Rosmarin was the leading vote-getter with 573, followed by Buchholtz with 536, with seven out of eight districts reporting Tuesday night. Monti received 495 votes and White received 487 votes, as of Tuesday nights unofficial tally.
Incumbent Amy Rosmarin, a 15-year resident of North Salem, lives on Mills Road with her husband, Ken Fellerman. She has an MBA from Yale University and a BA from Middlebury College. For the past 25 years she has worked as a management consultant. This will be her second term on the town council.
"I am so happy that my town wants a strong voice protecting North Salem as we implement the Comprehensive Plan, Rosmarin said. I love North Salem and want to keep it the way it is."
Bruce Buchholtz, a graduate of North Salem High School, holds a BA from New York University, Washington Square College of Arts & Science. He is founder, chairman and managing director of Fairfield Resources, Ltd., a diversified management consulting firm noted for executing eight figure transactions. This is his first term on the town council.
Buchholtz said, "I'm very grateful for the support of my neighbors and I'm anxiously awaiting official certification so I can continue my public service in North Salem. I'm not surprised at the level of support I received."
The four-year position of North Salem Councilmember pays $14,058.
Incumbent Warren Lucas, who ran unopposed, has unofficially been reelected as town supervisor, as has Veronica Howley, running unopposed for town clerk.
In addition, incumbents John Johnston Jr. and Ralph Mackin won the two open seats for town justice, defeating the third contender, Soloman J. Schepps.
